Creating A Bedroom To Nurture Your Child’s Imagination

Creating A Bedroom To Nurture Your Child’s Imagination

Your child’s bedroom is its haven against the complexities it faces in the outside world. A safe and vibrant space, filled with imagination and possibilities is just what your children need to nourish their souls and embark on the playfulness and creativities that will shape them for the challenges of the coming years.

Of course, it might be a balancing act to consider your child’s wacky ideas whilst also keeping budgets and practicalities in mind. There are some simple but effective ideas you can easily embed to keep your little ones happy, whilst also maintaining a level of sanity amongst all the yearnings for pirate ships and princess castles.

Keep it light and spacey

Maintaining a clutter-free environment is key, especially for small rooms. It might be tempting to include everything and anything that’s related to your child’s chosen theme, but it the long run, it can prove distracting for them, and make the room seem crowded. Not at all what you want. Instead, choose a few stand out focal points, likea themed bed, the like of which you can find somewhere like Cuckooland, or even a sectioned play area, and keep the rest of the room sweet and simple to maintain a light airy feeling.

Keep it timeless

Instead of diving into your theme with the enthusiasm of all your kids’ favourite TV characters blended together, try to keep the permanent parts modest, whilst having anything removable, like soft furnishings, going along with the theme. An underwater themed room for example, can have plain blue walls, whilst you can get creative by scattering octopus teddies and fish shaped pillows all around. That way, once your children grow and their tastes inevitably change, there’s no drama when it comes to changing the room itself.

Keep their hobbies in mind

To provide your child with that real bespoke comfort, why not add in those extra little bits to gratify their pastimes. Maybe a telescope pointed towards the stars for your scientific dreamer, a reading light for your bookworm, or a canvas stand for your budding artist. Whilst these might seem like little things, your child will surely make full use of them for years to come, and what a wonderful way to nurture their passions.

Keep colours at the forefront

Colours affect mood so much, and when combined in the right way, you can really bring a room to life. A white room is perfect for a room where everything else is colourful (although don’t forget about the mess kids can leave into their wake). Yellow can incite playfulness, blue a sense of calm, green symbolises nature and adventure, whilst pink invokes sweetness and charm. You can get away with so many combinations of colours in a child’s room that you wouldn’t be able to get away with in the the rest of the house, so go on, play around a bit, see what works best with the theme and/or your kids’ preferences.
